The Cahors vineyards are planted on the alluvial terraces of the Lot and the chalky plateaux above them. The geological evolution of the soils has produced a broad range of terroirs, giving the Cahors wine its well-known complexity. Using its expert knowledge of the wines of Cahors, RIGAL has created three unique cuvees to make you discover the exceptional diversity and richness of this region. On the ancient alluvial soils of the High terrace of the Lot valley where the grape ripening process is at its most gradual, the vineyard benefits for the diversity of the soils and a significant water supply. These conditions produce a fruity and well-balanced wine with harmonious tannins. “Troisieme Terrasse” is a well-balanced wine with crisp fruitiness, which is delightfully discovered in the mouth through its soft tannins.
Pre-fermentation cold-soak (to 7°C). Traditional vinification, 40 days on skins, malo-lactic fermentation takes place in barrel.
Aged in french oak barrels for 12 months.
Eye: Clear and intense colour, almost black with hints of purple.
Nose: First whiff is intense and fruity, the second with predominant notes of black fruit.
Palate: Rich and powerful notes of black fruit. The fruit is lively, with secondary notes of cocoa and brambles. Troisième Terrasse is a Cahors with bright, sensual fruit that opens up into an intensely pleasurable mouth with perfectly integrated tannins.
To serve between 18 and 20°C. This wine is perfect match for wild game and classic dishes from southwest France (duck breast, cassoulet, ...) Ageing potential between 6 and 8 years
